The Automated Construction and Engineering Robot was designed as an entry for the 2014 JCB design contest to create the backhoe loader of 2073.


It makes use of several technologies that today are still confined to science fiction.


The loader is powered by a compact focus fusion reactor that produces energy through an aneutronic process, this results in almost zero radioactive waste byproducts but an emmense amount of energy efficiency.


The reactor powers a set of electro active polymers which act as artificial muscles. it uses these to operate the 4 lower limbs as well as the rear arm.
